I have a very weird problem. If I plug an Ethernet cable into the board it reboots. I’ve stripped my program to the minimum and it seems if I configure the PLL the board resets. If I don’t, it doesn’t care if a cable is plugged in.
I’ve swapped the cables with my PC, so it’s not a cable. Also the reset happens about 2s after a reset, right at the point when all the link lights come onto my hub.
Anyone any clues ?
Also if anyone has a 2378 image for the Olimex board that they could send me to test the board that would be great.
thanks in advance,
Andy
OK, this gets even weirder ! If I power the board using USB, no issues, just change the jumper and it runs from the 6VDC, it goes into a reset cycle. Everything is powered from the same wall socket though a bunch of 6 way strips. Seems like either a ground loop, or the power supply can’t hack it. This is the power supply SFE sell on the same page as the board.
I wonder if it’s the same as the CS-9302 problem ?

I might be wrong on this, but I believe ethernet connections use isolation to prevent ground loop nightmares. Feel free to contradict me since I just think this is the case.
I would be suspicious of your power supply, especially since the USB derived power seems to be fine and dandy.
