order confirmation email?

I don’t want to overload Sparky by sending him an email that he doesn’t need to read … I emailed in my order last Sunday and paid via paypal; does Sparky send an “all’s well” confirmation email to let the customer know the order made it through alright? It hasn’t quite been 18 days (I think 14), and I don’t want to push, I was just curious to see if others were getting confirmation emails…

Thanks!

Dan

was the order for a PCB only?

there is a 14day ish lead time, but most normal orders get emails saying they have been shipped.

The system i am working on should solve these problems, but it might be a while till its ready, it depends on exam scheduals and murphys law.

Yeah, it was for a pcb only. I wasn’t really looking for a shipment email, just any sort of email at all saying the order was received and processed okay. I’ll wait a bit longer and then email if a pcb doesn’t turn up. No incredible hurry, I’m just new to the process

… I’ve been reading up on your drc and programming escapades, sounds like a very useful project and helpful to Sparky too. Automating this stuff would sure make his life easier.

I agree with danstrider. I sent in my files on Saturday night, and I’m still wondering if they are ok. I don’t know if no news is good news; or no news is bad news.

After I got the order confirmation, I sent in my PCB files, and it would be great to know that they passed the SFE DRC or perhaps when the panel is sent to China, or perhaps when the panel is expected back to SFE. In short, any convenient milestone between submittal of files and actual shipment.

I’ve purchased PCB’s twice from Sparkfun, last was a couple months ago…both times I got an e-mail saying my files had passed drc, once from Nathan, once from Pete-O. BUT, the first one from Nathan was during the Eagle drill file problems and I think he was just excited to get an order with ok files. The second from Pete simply said “…files passed drc…”. But I can’t say if this is thier “normal” procedure.

hopefully it will be soon, eventually it will just involve spark fun people going online, downloading files and extracting them on their pc, there will be a printable list of filenames / usernames and as each one passed DRC then can check them off on the list, then when its done, spend 2 mins adding them to a ‘batch’ and then emails of DRC completion can be sent to users, after this sparkfun can easily send ‘batch wide’ emails saying “batch sent for production” and “batch arrived and is being processed” etc etc.

But this system will take time to implement, again, after my exams i will be able to spend a week or so working on it.

I received my confirmation of passing the DRC today; so it looks like there is a system in place.

Most of the time, PCB panels get sent off to GP on Thursday night or Friday. All orders after friday sit for two to three days (Mondays are wicked for filling orders) while we catchup on other work. By Wed, Ben usually starts getting PCBs lined up and that’s when you’ll receive DRC emails.

Hey Sparky,

Hm, I am curious, I haven’t received a drc email or a pcb after three weeks, am I missing something?

Order # 6156

Thanks for the personal attention. I wish I didn’t have to ask… thought I had everything figured out.

Dan

Hi,

Please email protopcb @ sparkfun.com for any PCB inquiries. You should have received a confirmation after a few days…

Has anyone gotten their PCB submissions approved yet this week? I submitted a board on Saturday, and haven’t heard back from anyone yet that I passed/failed DRC. I hate to be impatient, but…

I submitted a board on Monday, 11 July. Got the "passed DRC" email on Friday, 15 July at 12:52PM EST. Wait one more day - the panels are assembled on Thursday or Friday and the panel orders go out on Friday.

Don

I submitted 2 boards, both on the 14th, got “passed drc” the next day on the 15th.
