I bought the pg31 gps unit but whenever i go outside i receive no data through the satellites, it is always just the 0’s. Occasionally if i wait around for 15/20 minutes outside and keep resetting the gps unit/restart hyperterminal, then it will give me correct information (verified from internet) but this happens so rarely it isnt even worth it. Question is, is there a way to determine if the antenna port of the GPS is bad (became shorted)? or in the same respect, if the antenna is bad? I am using the Active antenna with magnetic mount and 5m cable. Or is there a way to determine connectivity between the pin in the GPS antenna port and the antenna? I go out in pretty open areas where it should be easy to lock on. Any suggestions would be great.
If you are cold starting the GPS unit every time, it may take 5-10minutes to start getting good data.
If you never get a lock, you may try a different antenna. If that doesn’t work, we can test the PG31 for you.
