I have a Facet that works very well for me. The other day, while analyzing the data, I saw that I only receive B1 from Beidou.
I don’t detect B2.
Can someone clarify this for me?
As far as I know, Beidou is still issuing B2.
Thanks and best regards.
Hi TS-Rusell.
As far as I know, nothing has changed.
I’m in South America, in Uruguay.
A while ago, I noticed that the B2 signals were disappearing.
I only get B1.
I don’t know what’s causing it.
B2I is an old signal not on the more modern Beidou sats. Only 3 MEOs (Medium Earth Orbit) have it. About a dozen GEOs/IGSOs have it, but they are centered over China so not really useful (visible) on the other side of the world.
If you are far from China a lot of the time you won’t see any sats with B2I. Sometimes you may see up to 3, and other times some very low in the sky B2I sats over China may be visible to you depending on just where you are.
Older Ublox F9P boards - which I’m guessing is what is in your Facet - just tracked Beidou B1I and B2I. Newer boards have the option to track B1I and B2a. If you really want useful dual frequency Beidou data in an area far from China you may want to see if you can run newer firmware. You will be giving up some other signals though. I’d just use the receiver as is.
Thank you very much. That was a possibility. That it was being discontinued. Now, could you send me a link or material where I can study which frequency each Beidou satellite is using? I haven’t been able to find anything concrete. Thanks.
