Resizing drill sizes for Olimex introduces DRC errors.

Hi all,

I’ve been following this [resizing guide but I’ve hit a problem.

If I now run the Olimex 10mil DRC rules I get a load of errors. I get “Drill Distance” for all mounting holes and “Stop Mask” for the stop mask around each resized pad.

Have I done something wrong or is there a second stage I need to follow that isn’t documented?

Thanks.](Olimex advice - adjusting drill sizes)

I’m not sure there’s too many people here that are using Olimex. I used them once, but the limits of their drill rack and other issues caused me to look elsewhere.

If your getting DRC errors, I would guess that it’s not possible to make your design with the resized holes. Either you would have to pay the extra for non-standard drills or you need to modify the DRC parameters so that you have a compliant design that doesn’t violate any of Olimex’s limitations.

For instance, I recently ran into a problem with a 50 mil connector. Eagle was complaining that the pads were too close together even though the part in the library used much smaller pads than what was showing on the screen. I had to modify the restring parameters in the DRC to lower the resulting pad size to a compliant value while at the same time pay attention to BatchPCB’s limits on minimum drill size, etc. I had these problems even though I used BatchPCB’s .dru file to check the board (so using the vendor’s .dru file isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution).
