Shapeoko 3 Z Axis dilemma

I purchased a Shapeoko 3 about 4 years ago. I could not get the machine to Home or limit with my switches and the spark fun board. I purchased a tinyg control board. It sat for 2 years and I finally got about to upgrading it. It works well and I am finally running my first few projects. I went to tram my Z axis and found I had way to much play. I liked at the instructions of the Carbide 3d Shapeoko 3 and realized that theirs is quite different. The router mount is in the middle and the bottom pulleys are on the bottom. I was considering re-machining the Z Axis plate to match the Carbide layout. Then I went to your website and saw that you are now using a new upgraded z axis like the upgraded z-axis on the new Carbide 3d’s. Is it possible to purchase just the new Z axis so that I could install it on my machine?

Unfortunately, we do not have this option available at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience. Perhaps you could try reaching out to Carbide for further inquiry.

Carbide 3d said that they you are selling their products and that this is your machine. I want to buy the z-axis and their controller board. They said that only their board is compatible. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16980

While we are selling full units, we are unable to sell individual parts that you are requesting of those assemblies at this time.

What do you do if there are broken or faulty parts?

You could try to file an RMA request, https://sparkfun.com/returns. However, considering how long ago the purchase was there might be nothing further we can offer as per our returns policies.
