Stepoko Board Troubleshooting - Driver Blown?

I have an old Sparkfun edition Shapeoko 3 that I have been slowly restoring/upgrading.

I just got it back up and running with the Z-Plus and Proximity Sensors, had it all wired up with all the correct lights on the board responding, and left cable management for this morning.

Today I routed the cables and plugged it into UGS and jogged the axes a few times, disconnected and unplugged it, and the next time I booted it up it wasn’t detecting the X-axis motor and the X-Direction light is not lighting up on the board.

Does this mean the X-Stepper Driver on the board is messed up? I can’t figure out any steps to troubleshoot that specific section of the board.

If it is busted, can I bypass it with something like the Sparkfun Easy Driver?

Thanks for any responses!

I would double-check that all plugs are seated correctly/fully and the like…

While you might be able to rig up a workaround using Big Easy Driver or similar, but I’d try contacting Carbide3D (designers/makers of Shapeoko) and see what options they might have first

I’ll keep poking at it. I did try unplugging literally everything from the board and then powering it up, and got the same thing - lights for Y and Z Directions, but not X.

I’ve been looking into the Jackpot control board from V1 Engineering, that definitely looks promising!

Thanks for the reply.

I recall static electricity being a problem on the shapeoko hardware causing the drivers to blow. You might also try connecting a ground wire to all 3 axes and connect that to earth as well.
