Hi my son got this kit as a gift. He is 13 and has some soldering experience. His Simon is not working. I’m not sure how to help him. He says he installed the components with polarity correctly. Nothing happens when he switches it on. We have tried new batteries. I think maybe he bent the wires too far as they are touching the board in some places. Would that cause it to not work? He tried to desolder to do over. I don’t know how to attach pics
Hello. I ma sorry to hear you are having issues with the Simon Kit.
Photos will tell us what may be causing issues and will help us troubleshoot the problem. Cold joints and shorts are certainly capable of causing continuity issues in the circuit which will result in a non-working board.
I recommend also testing the batteries with a digital multi meter if you can and confirming that the batteries are outputting 1.5v+ as they are new.
If you want to add an attachment click on full editor in your reply and find the upload attachment button. This should allow you to find files on your computer such as photos to add to the post.

I can’t figure out how to attach a photo? We have been trying to trouble shoot. My husband tested voltage to the microprocessor, the voltage stops at the microprocessor so batteries are good.
Try bending the battery tabs in a bit so they touch the ends of the batteries.
Also, the circular traces around the LEDs on the top of the board look a bit oxidized, try rubbing a new pencil eraser on those if you’re having issues with the buttons not working well.
Good suggestions thanks! it has voltage, it just stops at the micro processor
