Solar power

Hi, I have a question about the solar power option:

Power your design from a 10W solar panel. This block adds LiPo charging as well so you can have uninterrupted power through the night. The solar panel, battery and USB cable are not included but can be added at checkout. Works with 1000mAh and larger LiPos.

Is the charger circuit based on the Sunny Buddy (PN 12885)? Or is it just a USB port for the solar panel with built-in charger (PN 16835)?

Thanks for your input. However, my question is more about the ALC solar power option:

For example, is there any difference compared to the ALC battery power option?

I mean, both include a JST 2-pin connector and battery recharging circuit.

For more robust solar power supply, I’m considering picking the banana jack power option in ALC then connecting the PCB to the Sunny Buddy load pins – would that work? ALC says it expects regulated 3.3V input but I’m not sure if the Sunny Buddy output meets that requirement? Its tutorial says “the load should be connected in parallel with the battery” and also “Most panels should work, just make sure they produce an output voltage between 6-20V” – so probably it’s not safe for an ALC PCB?
