Sparkfun Max30101/2 vs. Maxim MAXREFDES117

Hello,

I saw on Sparkfun’s Max30101 Hookup guide page that “Maxim’s Original Firmware for the MAX30102 adapted in our Arduino Library”. Does that mean that these two sensors can be used interchangeably (besides using the qwiic cable connections for one vs. soldering wires for the other) with the same code and libraries?

And along this note—could I potentially solder the breadboard jumpers end of the qwiic cable (that sparkfun sells) to the maxim sensor and having it connected via “qwiic”?
