Hi everyone, I have been testing the LG290P using the Quectel QGNSS V2 Software and my location is in Australia Tasmania but the map location shows the location in the northern hemisphere and the data reads out as + ve lattitude. Has anyone found a solution? I have updated LG290P firmware to Version 3 with no change.
Hi jeremyv and welcome!
Can you share screen shots of the software output? Feel free to fuzz out exact location details. I’m wondering if the QGNSS software is not parsing a negative sign correctly. If we can see the NMEA output from your device, in your location, we can pin down if it’s a QGNSS software issue and not a lower LG290P firmware issue.
I’ve had problems with QGNSS 2.0 and a LG290P mapping me from North America to Asia; doing exactly what you’re thinking and not honoring signs for lat/long.
Hi,
Please see attached Screenshots of QGNSS software outputs and map location.
The NMEA Data appears to show correct Location information.
Thank You
I can also say I have seen the exact same behavior with the QGNSS V2 program - it’s not very reliable and has all sorts of little bugs like this.
I really like PyGPSClient as an alternative if I just need a simple viewer and NTRIP tester.
