Hello,
I purchased a SparkFun Thing Plus with Matter from Mouser.
I plug it in and open Simplicity Studio, the board is recognized and that is it.
It is recognized as J-Link Silicon Labs (440000000), and never recognized as a SparkFun Thing Plus MGM240P. I believe it is because there is no ID for the board.
Is there a way to reflash the firmware on this board or is it defective and needs to be returned for replacement?
Thank you.
Be sure to do the steps here https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/sp … ware-setup to install the board files and re-try…any luck?
I have another Thing Plus Matter board and Simplicity Studio finds that fine and changes the ID from J-Link Silicon Labs to SparkFun Thing Plus Matter board.
When I right click the J-Link Silicon Labs in debug adapters and select Device configuration, there is no data. When I try to update with the proper *.emz file, it returns an error and says this is not intended for your board.
When I follow the steps, and I select Auto, the programs just shows the spinning, because Simplicity Studio does not know what kind of board it is.
I was able to connect to the board through the console in Simplicity Studio and found the answer to why the board is not recognized.
The board reports that the bootloader version is 0.0.0. And Simplicity Commander shows no blocks written at the end of internal memory showing that there is no bootloader on the chip.
Now, part 2 of the original question, where can I find a bootloader file and upload it to the board without Segger J-Link.
Thank you.

Is this how SparkFun treats their customer base?
You come in with a canned response that directs the customer to a page that describes how to connect the device properly and then walk away.
Sparkfun suggests that a customer to use the forums for customer service with the company and you should be helping and not leaving the customer in the lurch with not knowing what to do next because SparkFun decided to no longer assist.
This is a simple request that I have from SparkFun, I am having an issue with a Thing Plus Matter board that has no bootloader and is not recognized by Simplicity Studio from Silicon Labs.
I have another board that I have purchased that has no issue, so therefore, it is not the program, and has to be the board.
Thank you.
Simplicity Studio worked for me, too.
I was able to complete the Installation and Getting Started instructions on https://github.com/SiliconLabs/arduino
