SparkPNT RTK Facet mosaic - icons

Hey all. I am a new user and just received the SparkPNT Facet mosaic. Everything is working fine (connection, etc.), but I am seeing icons on the display that aren’t defined in the documentation, such as this:

From exploring the rtk.local configuration through the web browser it looks like this is controlled in the GNSS configuration menu with the default of Quasistatic. If I change it to Pedestrian the icon changes. The other options on that menu are Static, Pedestrian, Automotive, etc. From the documentation online it states ” The Dynamic Model can be changed but it is recommended to leave it as Portable” . There isn’t an option for Portable. Is there a resource that further explains these options?

Please forgive my density if I missed something obvious. I feel like I explored all of the documentation and still couldn’t find an answer. The out-of-the-box firmware version was 2.1.

Thank you,

Brett

I’m thinking ‘Quasistatic’ is likely the new default in place of former ‘portable’…if you select that, does it show the tripod again?

I poked through the docs as well and found that it is definitely the algorithm icon, and there are a few explained here and here (I also saw the tripod icon elsewhere on the landing page for the Facet mosaic)

The different modes can be useful if you a have known workflow/method that isn’t well suited by default (as you can imagine, sea mode helps with the fluctuations waves/currents cause, etc) but the default is sufficient for most general use cases

Quasistatic and static both have the tripod icon when they are selected. I did select Pedestrian and the icon for it is a person. The other options listed on the GNSS configuration are: Automotive, Race Car, Heavy Machinery, UAV and Unlimited. The modes are pretty self-explanatory for the specific workflow. I was just wondering if I missed some other documentation since what I was seeing in the Displays section of the SparkFun RTK Everywhere Product Manual didn’t match what I was getting on the Facet mosaic.

Thanks for your time,

Brett

Hi Brett (@RockDoc ),

Apologies for the confusion. The firmware and the docs are not quite in sync…

That icon indicates the dynamic model is “Stationary”. It is supposed to look like an RTK unit on a tripod.

On the Facet mosaic (and the new Facet FPM models):
Static and Quasistatic are displayed as the “Stationary” RTK+Tripod icon
Pedestrian is displayed as a small person (stick figure)
Automotive, Race Car and Heavy Machinery are a car / SUV
UAV is a plane
Unlimited is a plane with more windows / longer go-faster stripe…

“Portable” comes from the u-blox ZED dynamic models. The docs should say “Portable / Pedestrian”. We’ll get that updated.

Best wishes,
Paul

Hey Paul,

Thank you for that information. I was able to find some details regarding the GNSS Configuration options Quasistatic, Static, etc. that were not in the firmware documentation. The mosaic-X5 Reference Guide lists those under the Motion argument and provides some additional information on those settings as far as speed ranges for particular settings.

Thanks again!

Brett
