SW Maps, Android, NTRIP and the RTK Express

Hi,

Thanks for your support.

Probably a simple question, but just wanted to confirm.

The hookup guide recommends SW Maps on Android and mentions it uses the cellular network to get RTCM correction data.

I just wanted to confirm that this is just cellular data, and WiFi would work fine - meaning, it doesn’t rely on any cell phone tower location services, or anything specific to the cell network.

I want to avoid purchasing a cellular data plan for this, and I’m close enough to a WiFI source to get an Android phone onto the internet. Which I think is what SW Maps and NTRIP needs - just the ability to reach a NTRIP caster, and it doesn’t care about the IP transport it uses to get there.

Thanks!

What you’re describing should work - perhaps circle back after testing/verifying and leave a post letting others know!

Thanks Russell - confirmed that WiFi works fine. Also, if you see the accuracy go to hell, it means you moved outah WiFi range and lost your NTRIP feed.
