U-Blox Pointperfect L-Band sunset

With u-blox shutting down the current L-Band service, will the D9S become useless for PointPerfect? Will PointPerfect Global (launching in 2026) still use the same rotating key structure? Only the X20P is listed as compatible—will they root the chain of trust this time, breaking D9S support? Also, is the current X20P firmware ready for PointPerfect Global? I can’t find any info in the interface manual about key exchange or the built-in L-Band receiver.

Hi Jacob (@PhotonCat ),

We have very few details about the new Global service. I’m sure the X20P firmware will need to be updated to support it. (Unless the functionality is already implemented but not documented. But I think that’s very unlikely.)

The D9S can be repurposed as a standard SPG NEO GNSS - by ‘updating’ it with the SPG 4.04 firmware used by the NEO-M9N.

I hope this helps,
Paul
