The two from sparkfun work well, but I tried a small strip antenna (SMD) intended for cell phones (but was GPS) which I expected to be weak, but got nothing at all.
Anyone have any luck with something more compact?
Most GPS antennas have some sort of signal boost amplifier in them. You can usually tell if a GPS antenna is amplified if they specify a voltage that is works at (usually 5V or 3.3V). So a basic cell phone antenna usually won’t work, since they do not have an amplifier in them.
