Very happy with my order!

Great job guys! The only issue I had was with the diameter of the annular rings on some of the through holes, but that’s my fault. They are almost too thin to solder. However, everything came out to spec.

Thank you for providing this service.

Greetings MarkS,

What CAD/CAM software did you use for this project?

Eagle

Eagle

MarkS,

Did you use the default settings for pad and via diameters?

I’m wondering if your annual rings were incorrectly set by you,

a result of unfavourable EAGLE defaults, or something happened

to the data when you ran the CADCAM job.

FWIW, my first BatchPCB order had “bad drills”, mostly because

I used the wrong (i.e. older) EAGLE version and drills were

not set to my sizes. Instead I assume that GP had a default

drill rack, and my size 1 was mapped to their size 1, etc.

Have you measured (or estimated) the drills on the pads you

think have undersided copper?

Comments Welcome!

I think this is due to Eagle’s defaults. I have the most recent version, 4.16, and made no changes to the diameters or defaults prior to running the ULP and CAM. Judging from the pin sizes and their fit in the holes the drill sizes are correct. It was my mistake, but then this is my first time getting a PCB fabricated. The board is usable, but I’ll need to do hot air reflow to solder. There is no place, other than the pins, to apply an iron.

Hey Mark,

How did you make your drills align? It’s clear that following the obvious steps will not produce good View Mate picture. The FAQ talks abot changing the origin, did you do that and did it fix the issue? Or did you have that issue in the first place?

Greetings MarkS,

I just had a thought, perhaps your PCB is missing the PADs?

I suspect that if the pad was not masked it would etch leaving

only the “barrel” of the plated hole. Is that what you see?

Are there pad sized openings in the solder mask? If not and

the mask extends to the hole likely the pad apeture was

missing from the photplot and it could be a manufacturing

error, a CADCAM error, or something wrong with EAGLE

during design.

Would you please post the files (or PM me), I’m interested

to solve your mystery.
