Smells like ‘Chynaa’ to me.
The reviews seem very fishy…
We’ve known about Hyfix since Geodnet newsletter announced the device in October of 2025. Hyfix is using the same enclosure as we are for the Torch/TX2 series. What’s actually inside, or how the Hyfix unit works is a lot more murky. I think it uses the UM980 (which we’ve stopped using because of US export issues), and it does not have iOS MFi support so it is not compatible with ArcGIS Field Maps (the #1 request by our customers).
No complicated RTK configuration, no base station setup, no technical expertise required. Turn on, connect to your phone, and you’re collecting centimeter-accurate data in under a minute. Professional survey-grade accuracy usable by anyone.
Sounds nice, but here’s the kink: the Hyfix unit only works over Bluetooth with their software and their corrections network (Geodnet). I’m not sure what it’s like to get coordinate data out of their software. Also, they don’t mention a LoRa radio or tilt compensation, so it’s like a Torch without all the features.
So if you want to use NTRIP to connect to corrections, I don’t think Hyfix will let you. Additionally, if you want to use any app other than the Hyfix app, I don’t think it will connect (might work on Android, no chance will it connect on iOS over MFi or work with ArcGIS Field Maps). If you need tilt compensation or a base/rover radio, I think the Hyfix is also lacking.
