XBEE's report incorrect modem type

Hello -

I am trying to use a pair of XBEE’s to transmit telemetry with my mikrokopter. I purchased two of the XBEE PRO 900 units from SFE, and the units I received (according to the sticker on the bottom of the units) are XBP09-DPWIT-156 revC

I have read that these units were shipped with the wrong firmware, and that I need to load the correct firmware. When I use XCTU to write the correct firmware (which I downloaded from the digi website) to the XBEE units, everything at the bottom of XCTU reports “OK”. That is, the status line goes from "initializing modem to Programming Modem . … then I get the ‘ok’ messages shown in the attached photo.

But when I go back to the PC settings and “Test/Query” the modem, it still reports that it is an XBP09-DM rather than an XBP09-DP. The XBEE’s are sitting in a USB explorer for this programming exercise, so there is no diode to short (at least not one that I am aware of!)C:\Users\Craig\Pictures\Capture42111.jpg

Can anyone suggest what to do next?
