XLR microphone

Hi all

I had a question involving using an XLR microphone in a circuit I’m making. I’m unsure of how to actually wire up the microphone to receive the signal. It is a 3 pin XLR, so there should be a ground, signal and inverted signal leads. To get this signal and feed it to amplifier do I simply run ground to ground, signal line to the amp and leave the inverted lead open? Or do I need to power the microphone somehow? I don’t have any data sheet or anything like that, I bought it from a pawn shop and used it to record some music a few years ago. It does not require phantom power (at least it did not when I used it). Thanks in advance!

The mic is connected between pins 2 and 3. 1 is only used for the shield (assuming no phantom power). So tie 2 (pos) and 3 (neg) to your circuit, with 3 to ground if you need an unbalanced input. 1 should be tied to ground.
