Hello, I have purchased (in two separate orders) 4 XRP robots to use this summer for youth robotics classes. My FTC team has only opened one XRP to learn how to assemble, code, and use it. However, when we plug it into the computer the device is not found. I pulled another XRP Controller Board out and that one had no issues connecting. I’m thinking maybe this controller board may be damaged. Can you please advise on how we can resolve this issue? Thanks your help!
Nicole
Just to be sure: the power switch is moved over?
Is the other (working) one the beta model or the updated rp2350 version? Same question for your non-working unit (is it a beta or the 2350 model)? If it’s the 2350, have you tried pressing the reset or boot buttons on the board while it is plugged in to usb?
Hello! Yes the power switch is moved over, we have tried pressing the reset/boot buttons as well. Both are the beta model.
Alrighty - it sounds like you have a defective unit :-/.
Was it purchased from us? If so, head to Returns to get a replacement (or contact vendor for similar)
FYI it’s possible the problem was caused during assembly. If one of the sensor cables is plugged into the connector at an angle, it can bend the pins inside and end up shorting the 3.3V rail to GND. This manifests with the following symptoms (among others, these are just the most identifiable symtoms):
- Cannot connect over USB
- When powered via batteries, only 1 of the 2 power LEDs turn on
- The voltage regulator may get hot when power switch is on
