I’m using the latest version of Kicad and producing Gerber files.
But the DRC bot does not seem to see my Drill file(.drl).
I get a waring saying “No drill file selected” after clicking continue.
But I get an email from the DRC bot saying design has passed.
I double checked my zip folder and the drill file is included.
I even change the drill file extension to .txt from .drl, but the bot still
doesn’t read it.
After clicking the ‘upload’ button only 6 files are displayed, the drill
file is omitted, it’s like it’s the bot can’t read it, but it the design gets passed. :?:
I’ve double checked my plot settings in Kicad, but their ok.
This has got me stumped.
Ok i figured it out.
I use two PC’s to design my boards one at work(win) and one at home(linux).
Apparently the windows version of kicad has different default settings than
the linux one.
The "Use decimal format’ radio button was clicked on in the gerber file settings, for some reason I overlooked this.
The Linux version has the right default settings.
Another reason to hate windows.
I found this out by using the gerbv gerber file viewer which can view drill files.
I got red error messages in the messages window which clued me in that something was amiss
with my drill file.
So kiddies the lesson today is, always check your gerber file settings.
Don’t assume the default settings are correct.
