I’ve been designing an I2C slave with the ATMega2560 but kept getting errors when uploaded so assumed it was the only error I had left in Eagle (the space between the 2560 contacts on its footprint). Deciding to do a “lite” version before spending out ridiculous money on a full version prototype I used a 328 (hand solderable) instead. I created two boards using the 328 and then created the gerber files for all three boards. I uploaded all of them to BatchPCB and to my surprise ALL of them passed this time. I have no idea what I’ve done to sort the 2560 issue but DRCbot liked it for some reason.
Can I get a confirmation that BatchPCB process is able to do the traces for the 2560 and this isn’t a DRCbot error?
Two working days and no response on here and no response via email. FAQs openly admit the bot isn’t perfect and no response.
Has anyone else tried to get a ATMega 2560 on to a BatchPCB made PCB? If it can be done then the bots change in heart is irrelevant.
Really? A week of waiting and no one can say Yes or No?
I really don’t want to a a £20 coaster and I’ve searched the boards listed on the site for another 2560 or 1280 but cannot see any so just want a check that BatchPCB can do the footprint.
Where is the DRC Bot failing?
TQFP100 pin width = 0.30 to 0.45mm, pitch= 0.8mm
MLF pin width = 0.18 to 0.30mm, pitch= 0.5mm
I’m not sure your footprint specs but nothing looks close to the 8 thou limit.
Try make the MCU pads smaller and see what happens.
Either that or the trace widths connecting are on the fat side?
I’m just suggesting some ideas, as it unfortunately can be really quiet out here…
Thank you Redwire for your reply.
My problem was the DRCbot failing my board but I uploaded a group of boards I’m working on and without alteration the board passed. The footprint I’ve used is from Atmel itself. I was just wondering if the DRCbot pass definitely means BatchPCB can do the board.
To be honest I’m getting rather fed up as I’ve not been answered by email either.
If your designs have not passed that means something has gone wrong with the submission process. Re-submit your files, if it doesn’t pass withing an hour, email me at support@batchpcb.com. This means that something is wrong with your files and our bot is not recognizing them.
Thank you for your reply.
My board passed but on second submittance but I did nothing to it. So I was wondering if the 2560 is just to tightly packed for the BatchPCB process?
