Ethernet port of SparkPNT RTK mosaic-X5 doesn't seem to receive packet

I’ve just received SparkPNT RTK mosaic-X5.

I connected lan cable between PoE switch and RTK basestation of mosaic-X5.

And I connected internet router in PoE switch.

I found that SparkPNT RTK mosaic-X5 send DHCP request and router respond to it.

But after that basestation don’t change its own IPv4 address which was router sent.

And I also configure static IP in it, it also failed to communicate basestation.

Is there hardware fault in receiving part of the mosaic-X5?

I also get diagnostics data from mosaic-X5 rxtools over serial, it said “rxBytes is 0”.

What can I do for resolving this issue?

Does it do the same if you plug the LAN cable directly into the router (skipping the switch)?

Hello, Russell.

I tried it direct connection.

It also failed.

I attached diagnostic log file and router log

I’ve seen so many DHCP request from mosaic-X5 and repose of it from router.

But basestation doesn’t set IPv4 address.

Am I doing anything else to try?

Best regard,

Changbeom.

Hello Changbeom (@trip2me ),

Thank you for sharing your diagnostic report.

From this, I can see you are running mosaic-X5 firmware 4.15.0. This is newer Septentrio firmware which requires you to enter a Username and Password on all IP interfaces. I see that you entered the Username “wayties” and have also set a password. I suspect your unit is not working as expected on Ethernet because you need to enter the Username and Password on that interface?

The diagnostic report is a little strange because the Current configuration “lstConfigFile, Current” does contain “setEthernetMode, on” but it is commented out:

  # setEthernetMode, on
  # setIPSettings, , "192.168.234.17"
  # setIPSettings, , , , "192.168.234.1"
  # setIPSettings, , , , , , "168.126.63.1"
  # setIPSettings, , , , , , , , 1500

I have never seen that before - commented settings in a configuration file. Very strange. Maybe this is because you set a fixed IP address, but then went back to DHCP?

From your router log, I can see that the router is offering the address 192.168.123.200:

Thu Aug 13 00:16:33 2026 daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[1]: DHCPDISCOVER(br-lan) 8c:1c:da:55:55:a0
Thu Aug 13 00:16:33 2026 daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[1]: DHCPOFFER(br-lan) 192.168.123.200 8c:1c:da:55:55:a0

But in the current configuration file setIPSettings, you were trying to set a fixed IP address of 192.168.234.17. The sub nets do not match: 123 vs. 234. That is strange. Did you make a mistake?

It may help if you downgrade the X5 firmware to 4.14.10.1. 4.14.10.1 does not require the mandatory Username and Password. That may help with the Ethernet connection. Please let us know if you would like instructions on how to do that.

I hope this helps,
Paul

Hello Changbeom (@trip2me ),

I agree. The Ipparameters rxbytes="0" is strange. I would expect that to be higher than zero. The X5 should be receiving the DHCPOFFER, even if it does not use it. That should increase the rxbytes count above zero.

Maybe you do have a hardware fault - on Ethernet receive? Ethernet transmit is working - your router is receiving packets from the X5.

Please try more tests.

If the rxbytes remains zero, please let us know. You may need to return the unit so that we can investigate the problem.

Best wishes,
Paul

Hello Paul,

I don’t know what is happening, but it is solved now.

When I change downgrade firmware and reboot, ethernet of the basestation is working.

Actually I have setup user and password using ESP32 console. set command.

Currently I have done upgrade latest firmware now.
But it’s still working well.

Thank for the advice.
Have a good day.

Hello Changbeom (@trip2me ),

Excellent. Thank you for the update. I am happy it is working.

Best wishes,
Paul

Hello Paul,

Unfortunately, it happens again.

During the running state via ethernet, device is disconnected suddenly without any environment changes.

I guess it is hardware fault.

I live in South Korea.
And I have use it for some project right now, so repair time is very important.

If repairing process takes so long, is it possible exchange device with new one?
I will send this package to Spaklefun in USA and Spaklefun will send new one at the same time.

Please let me know how to do this.

Best regard,
Changbeom.

trip2me, I will PM you with some details regarding how to get a return started.

Thank you for your patience on the matter. We look forward to getting solution together soon.
