I previously RMA the screen as it went crazy, after replacing the display now works fine. But I have noticed that the device can’t get a confirmed network connection at this point.
I have tried both ethernet and wifi. I tried using the Mosaic POE interface to get on network and tried Dynamic and static on two different networks.
I tried setting wifi via ESP but this as well never gets on the network. I verify this by doing a net lan scan and it does not appear to be on network. When i am on the ESP and it’s trying ethernet via the ethernet interface on ESP it just continues to fail to get onto network.
It does have an error message.”Output IPStatus once failed” and then next line “Output GSA once failed”. These repeat alternating under ethernet set.
I can access the mosaic directly via Serial fine and the RXtools can get into everything and the receivers seem to be working fine.
I may need to update the firmware to make sure I don’t have some corruption in there. This will be my next step.
From your description, it sounds like there are three issues:
The X5 not connecting to your Ethernet network
The ESP32 not communicating with the X5 over the internal UART connection
The ESP32 not connecting to your WiFi network
How would you like to proceed? Do you want to return the unit for investigation and repair? Or do you want us to help you get connected again?
Some quick pointers that may help:
Please have a read through the Quick Start Guide to refresh your memory.
Please don’t upgrade the X5 firmware to 4.15.1. We know 4.14.10.1 works reliably, you can upgrade to that version if you wish. But 4.15.1 requires you to login before you can communicate with the X5 over Web / TCP. The ESP32 RTK mosaic-X5 firmware does not yet support that login.
With the X5 Ethernet connected to a network, and your PC connected to USB (CONFIG MOSAIC), open the 192.168.3.1 Ethernet-over-USB web page. What do you see under Communication \ Ethernet? It should look like:
The ESP32 only supports 2.4GHz WiFi. It can not connect to 5GHz networks. Please check yours is 2.4GHz and that you have entered the SSID and password correctly through the CONFIG ESP32 USB console (115200 baud). Please also check you have selected WiFi mode, through the console.
For WiFi to work, the ESP32 Ethernet must be connected directly to the X5 Ethernet, using a single cable. You can not connect the ESP32 to your Ethernet network, and you can not connect the ESP32 to the X5 through an Ethernet switch. The ESP32 acts as a very simple WiFi-Ethernet bridge, passing all Ethernet packets from the X5 out on Wifi, and vice versa. Nothing else will work. You can not use PoE for this mode, you’ll need to provide power through USB instead.
The firmware listed on the site is 4.15.1 so can’t upgrade unless I use that I did not see an alternative listed.
I have tried all combinations to try and get this to work on multiple networks.
The only time I see the light on the LAN hub is when the POE is engaged.
Powering via MOSAIC port does not power unit.
I can access the mosaic side and the ESP via USB serial fine
I have tried the POE port and it as a non POE port on Hub only works on Mosaic side as POE port which it provides power but does not transmit any traffic.
I think at this point we should try the RMA option on this I just don’t see it reach a successful troubleshoot but I am willing to try. I did review and follow your directions enclosed to no success.
