Everything is offline in the SparkFun Surveyor KIT (GPS-17370)

Hello, good afternoon.

I have a problem connecting via bluetooh, and when I connect it via serial it appears that the GNSS is offline, I already updated it and reset it from the factory more than once.

Also in the Forum I already read the change of BT and NMEA switch, I also already checked the cable.

Could you help me if I have to do any configuration, or how I can check if the L1/L2 antenna is still working, since the cable has continuity.

I await the responses.

Thanks

What position are the switches currently in? https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … s-receiver

They are up, so I read it in a section here on the forum

I already updated it and reset it from the factory more than once

What firmware version did you update the unit to?

Accelerometer - Does not exist on the Surveyor so that being offline is no concern

Display - Does not exist on the Surveyor so that being offline is no concern

microSD - You probably don’t have an SD card in the unit, so that is no concern

Fuel Gauge - That is online, so I2C bus is working.

Bluetooth cannot connect to the GNSS because it is offline

All this points to is that the ZED-F9P is not starting up.

When you connect USB to the ‘ublox config’ port, do you see a sensor or COM port enumerate? Here is how to install the u-blox driver: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ge … ll-drivers

I am interested to see if the u-blox module is working or not.

It connects it through U-Center and I don’t have data either. About the ports, it appears: COM 4 and I followed the installation instructions.

I show the photos of how it appears to me.

How can I start the ZED-F9P?

Please power cycle the ZED-F9P after installing the drivers.

How do I turn the ZED-F9P off and on?

Sorry, that was confusing. Power the whole system on/off.

I already turned it off, connected the L1/L2 antenna and turned it on again, still no data appears in U-Center

I would recommend checking the module’s version. This will tell us if the module is responding with anything at all.

It appears very different to the reference photo

The ZED has entered safety mode for some reason. Did you ever attempt to update the firmware on the ZED?

Please see this doc for updating the ZED firmware: https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … x-firmware

I tried to do it as the manual says with the SparkFun RTK u-blox Firmware Update Tool and I found the latest version at: https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/zed-f9p-module? legacy=Current#Documentation-&-resources

Then I found this page where it tells me that I can update the Firmware of the ZEP-F9P: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ho … #upgrading -firmware

And in both it does not let me do the update.

Hello VALERIA,

Your u-blox module is in a very strange state.

In the “SparkFun RTK u-blox Firmware Update Tool”, please try selecting the “Override” option and try again.

If that does not work, please also select “Enter Safeboot”.

If it still does not work, please also select “Chip Erase”.

The “Override” option will de-select itself. You will need to keep re-selecting it with the other options.

Please make sure you have disconnected u-center before you try to do the update. The Update Tool will fail if u-center has control of the COM port.

I hope this helps,

Paul

Cool. Thanks PaulZC!

I already have data in U-Center. And in a matter of leds on I have more than at the beginning that I only had the power one.

But now how can I see it in the SW Maps App, since Bluetooth also appears, but I have no data.

Good progress. Be sure to do a full power cycle so that we know what state the system is in.

What version of firmware has been loaded onto the ESP32? This is the number you see when you power on the device.

https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … Number.png

It is a Surveyor, it has no screen.

However, the one that loads me in Tera Term is the latest version of v2.6.

v2.6 - thanks! I don’t think that’s necessarily your problem, but we recently released v3.0 so you may want to upgrade: https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RT … s/tag/v3.0

Now that the ZED is responding, what do you see when you open the System Menu? Is Bluetooth shown as online?

Thank you very much Sparky!!!.

I already managed to get the coordinates through the SW Maps and U-Center software.

I also updated it to the latest version.

Excellent! I apologize that it didn’t work out of the box. But I’m glad you got it working!
