I have 2 Postcards and yesterday when i was booting them up I got GNSS FAILED and the upper left where it shows part of the MAC address was all zeros. Is this the thermal crash but now instead of going blank in boot process it just fails to launch?
Are the Postcards hot to the touch during boot?
I’m not sure because they are in cases. It’s strange I was in a canyon and it’s almost like the reception was being funny.
Yes, the postcards may have a thermal crash, we have the same problem a couple times, and the MAC address was all zeros too!!! Maybe sparkfun team can do a larger test in the real field conditions with the postcards, base and rovers, and bring to us great updates.
Using a USB serial connection to an RTK postcard, using the text menus, I can usually get GNSS (LG290P) chip to start up after a factory reset ( I might have had to do it twice in one case… )
I have felt the chips get warm. so some suggestions for a thermal system add-on from sparkfun would be great.
We don’t have any concrete suggestions, but adding small brushless fan and cutting slits in a case or placing a few heatsinks on the warmer components should help it temperature is becoming a concern
