GNSS L1/L5 Breakout - NEO-F10N and BlueSMiRF v2 TX/RX traces and BT GPS

Hello,

I have the NEO-F10N and a BlueSMirf V2. my intent is to use the NEO-F10N as a BlueTooth GPS w/a Linux laptop and QGIS as well as MapIt and SW Maps.

Question on the Neo-F10 as it interfaces with the BlueSmirf.

i have soldered leads onto the NEO-F10N External Serial PTH to conect to the BlueSmirf via a JST connector.

I have successfully connected the BluSMiRF to my phone and tried to use MapIt and SW Maps, and both apps show an invalid fix.

if my intent is to use the BlueSmirf as the serial interface and use the USB-C connector as power only, do I need to cut the USB-TX/USB-RX jumpers?

Do I need to change the serial output to remove UBX messages and would that be on UART1 only?

Yes, you do. As a minimum, you need to cut the USB-RX jumper. Otherwise the CH340 TXD will ‘fight’ the BlueSmirf TXD. But you can leave the USB-TX jumper intact if you wish, and the USB COM port will still output UBX / NMEA.

That may help, as some Apps won’t understand the UBX Message format. But, by default, there should be no UBX messages enabled. Unless you’ve enabled some? Yes, UART1. (The NEO-F10N only has UART1).

Please check your baud rates. The NEO-F10N defaults to 38400 baud. The BlueSmirf v2 defaults to 115200 baud.
