I am having an issue getting PPS from the card. Initially I was receiving PPS and communicating over UART successfully, but it stopped working and I can’t seem to get the PPS LED to start flashing again. The board has been unplugged many times, but I was wondering if there is something else I could try.
What antenna do you have connected? How many satellites is the NEO reporting as being used in its fix?
You only need to be able to see a few satellites (I think it’s as low as one), but without an antenna, or if you’re indoors, there is no PPS.
The connected antenna is the ANN-MB series. Not 100% about the Satellites in view, just receiving a bunch of bad data. The board and antenna are in a room with other GPS receivers that are getting data from a repeater. All the other GPS antennas are receiving data totally fine. Does unplugging the board reboot the system even when the battery if fully charged?
The ANN-MB will work fine. I’d recommend getting an antenna outside to eliminate the repeater as the issue.
Power cycling the device will not reset the device settings to factory defaults. There are three levels of memory: RAM, BBR, and flash. Power cycling will clear RAM, the SMD battery will maintain BBR. Use u-center for configuration and resetting to factory defaults, if you need it.
If I wanted the board to completely reboot on a power cycle, could I remove the battery without damaging the board?
I don’t think you even need to do that, just store all your settings in RAM, avoid putting settings in BBR or Flash.
Cool thank you for the help. I sorted out the issue by moving the Antenna around the room a bit.
