I need to return an item that was defective when I received it. I emailed support and they told me to come here with basically no other instructions…
How do I go about requesting a refund/replacement?

What is the item/defect?
I ordered the Pinecil soldering kit Sparkfun sells. The power supply that came with it seems to be defective. When I plug the pinecil into the wall it repeatedly powers on and then off. The same thing happens if I try using the power supply to charge my phone, my phone charges for a second then stops and the cycle continues as long as it’s plugged in.
Odd - do you have any other high watt (65w or more) cables/power adapters you can test with to isolate the issue (cable vs adapter)?
I’ve tried 3 cables and the pinecil reacts the same way no matter what when plugged into the wall. I don’t think I have any other 65w+ power adapters, but when I plugged the Pinecil into my PC to update the firmware it powered on fine, so I’m pretty sure its the power adapter itself.
Gotcha - to be clear, you tried the included (long, red) cable?
Yes, that was the first one I tried it with
Ok, go to Return Policy - SparkFun Electronics and fill out the form
Feel free to reference this thread, and/or let them know you just need USB A and C Power Delivery (PD) Wall Adapter - 65W - TOL-24059 - SparkFun Electronics (not the whole kit, which is out of stock currently but we have chargers!)
Ok, thanks!
