I get this error when I try to program my new Alchitry CU board delivered via Amazon: com.alchitry.labs.hardware.usb.ftdi.Mpsse$MpsseException: Flash ID was 0xFFFFFFFF expected 0xEF401600
Can someone please help me resolve this issue?

Double check the physical components on the board itself (sometimes the inductors get broken in shipping…they are small black cylinders near the usb port, labeled 8R2 here https://cdn.sparkfun.com//assets/parts/ … HX_-03.jpg) - are they intact?
No. 1 has a crack at one corner as I’ve seen others report. Horrible shipping packaging, lack of. It came in just a bubble envelope and ziplock anti-static bag from Amazon. SparkFun usually puts such items in there nice red boxes. I received the port breakout board in a similar fashion. The coil doesn’t seem damaged that it wouldn’t work. It’s just a corner of the ferrite material the wire is wrapped around.
I’ll probe around later tonight to see if I can see the regulator is working correctly.
I probed around to ensure the regulator was working and it seems to be. I see 4.8 from USB port and 3.3 coming out of the regulator. So I don’t think the coil is an issue.
I downloaded the FT_Prog program for the FTDI chip. I’ve attached the configs for the ports. Is there anything in there I need to change? Once I install the libusbK drivers, I cannot use this program as expected.
I found a short between SS and SCK pins at the connector block! For now, I was able to move the short up some to some unused pins. I’ll get some wick to properly remove it. I am now able to erase and program the board at least now!
Ah, nice catch. Sorry about that. I am glad you found and fixed the issue.
Seems like your weekend may be full of Alchitry =).
Let us know if we can do anything else.
