New Raspberry Pi's without Bootloaders?

Hi! I have ordered ~ 15 rpi 5, 4gb from you all recently, and something seemed odd.

We usually load a custom raspberry pi image onto an SD card, pop them in to new RPI5s and then they just run

but with all 15 of the new ones we got from you all recently, the new SD cards wouldn’t work. it would turn on and then turn off or not do anything.

in troubleshooting, i found that if i just flashed them with the pi5 bootloader, then they would work totally fine. but this hasn’t been a step i would normally have to take with a new rpi5.

is this something new about the pi5’s? do they not ship with bootloaders?

Sounds like that might be the case. Although I suppose a batch might have gone out where they missed that step.
