No reception of position with SPARKFUN GPS NEO-M9N

Hello.

I used before a GPS6MV2 GPS board which was very imprecise. I used it with a small antenna. But this board allows me to receive uickly some positions for tests purposes.

GPS6MV2 board:

I have buyed a Sparkfun GPS NEO-M9N, with an active antenna, but I have NOT YET a cable between U.FL connector and antenna.

I start then to use the Sparkfun board with my small antenna. But, at the same place of my home, if I receive correctly all GPS frames, I never receive any positions. I have done tests with the u-blox tool “u-center_v21.05”, and it it the same situation : frames, but no positions. Does it can be caused by small quality antenna ?

In your photos, both antenna’s are upside down.

If you turn them right side up and take them outside, do you get position reports then?

thank your very much, you are right, the Sparkfun with simple antenna works if on the other side. (for the active one, the side showed on photo was only to show the model).

But I don’t understand why the GPS6MV2 GPS board was working correctly with antenna in bad position.
