I preordered a Raspberry Pi 5 (4gb) along with an active cooler and finally got around to using it. Everything runs normally with Bookworm, but the active cooler has never turned on. My Pi 4 spins its fan up briefly when booting, and the Pi 5 is supposed to do the same. Even at 65*, the Pi 5’s fan doesn’t flinch.
I have the plug installed correctly and none of the pins are folded in the connector. The plug is pushed down and seated securely in the connector. From my understanding, the fan is enabled by default with the Pi 5 Bookworm build. It’s a fresh install and I have not played with any config options, so it shouldn’t have been turned off.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, my application will absolutely require the fan at times.
