Redboard Turbo not detected

I have a Redboard Turbo DEV-14812 that is not detected at all. This includes in the Arduino IDE and in Windows device manager (including unknown device). I purchased this device because two MKRZeros had the same issue, so i do not think it is a defective hardware. When plugged in the power led is illuminated as well as a dim pulse on the addressable led (blink).

I have performed the following:

  1. used different usb cables

  2. used different usb ports (2.0, 3.0, 3.1)

  3. double pressed reset (the board went in to boot mode, but still not detected in Windows)

  4. loaded drivers in Arduino IDE

  5. manually loaded drivers

  6. uninstalled Arduino IDE and reinstalled

  7. followed the hook-up guide in Sparkfun website

  8. uninstalled and reinstalled USB drivers

  9. updated all drivers for my computer (chipset, bios, etc.)

  10. plugged in Arduino MEGA (this was detected without issue)

11.Scoured the SparkFun forum.

And not once was a SAMD based board detected. Please help, what else can I do? Have I missed something?

It may be a bad board, but the only thing I can see that you haven’t tried is using it on a different computer. Might be worth a shot to see if you get different results on a different PC.

If that still doesn’t work, fill out the form [on this page with your order information and in the “Why do you want a RMA?” section just put the URL to this forum post. With that, we can help you out further. :-)](Return Policy - SparkFun Electronics)

So I had forgotten to post that I had used multiple computers without avail. However, yesterday my friends computer did recognize the board when plugging it in. So I am back to square one with a board that I know works…

I’m not really sure what to tell you. Something on your computer doesn’t like the RBT, but I don’t know what it could be.

Does the board show up as a removable disk drive when you double click the reset button? If it doesn’t on your computer, will it on your friends?

I’m experiencing the same problem. I’ve tried all the same things with no luck. This is odd since part of the advertised features is that it can be used as data storage without adding drivers. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried the board on a different computer? (Mac or a PC with a different version of Windows)

It turned out to be the USB cable. I think there should be a warning when purchasing this that many of the cables you might already own are just power cables or raise the price by some small amount and throw a cable in the box. Frustrating and unnecessary. Thanks for the quick response.
