SW Maps on iPhone – loading layers

Just beginning using the SparkFun with an iPhone. We have some calculated locations that we’d like to survey on the ground. The SW Maps stakeout tool seems perfect for this but I can’t seem to import the locations. I’ve tried putting a KML file in lots of places in the SW Maps directory structure on the phone, and SW Maps can never find it. I’d also be (less) happy to enter the points by hand, but the “add coordinate” option in the drawing tool seems to be missing from my version. The only user manual is for Android so, does anyone have experience loading layers in SW Maps? Thanks!!!

Place your KML or Shapefile here:
Browse / On My iPhone / SW Maps / Layers / (kml or shapefiles)

Then in SW Maps, after you’ve selected your Project :
Select LAYERS, and ADD Layer, then (kml or shapefiles)

I’m going from memory, but hopefully that will get you on the right track.

Pretty sure I’ve done that. I have a file, ParkingLot.KML in the folder On My iPhone/Sw Maps/Layers/kml. I’ve also tried putting it in On My iPhone/Sw Maps/Maps/ and On My iPhone/Sw Maps/Maps/kml (I created the last of these). When I try to add a new KML layer, SW Maps says “No files were found”.

Can anyone confirm success on an iPhone?

So I deleted the app (and all its data) and downloaded again from the App Store and it seems to be working now with file in the folder On My iPhone/Sw Maps/Layers/kml :person_shrugging:t3:
