Tsunami Bug?

Hey All,

I have run into something odd with my Tsunami…was hoping for suggestions to figure this out.

Last night, I had the Tsunami working with 8 momentary push buttons shorting the triggers to ground. All worked great. Then the next day, without changing any configurations, I powered it back on and it immediately started playing all of the sounds repeatedly together without pressing anything.

So I removed all the push buttons and went back to using a wire to short the trigger to ground. Using the wire works. Then I noticed something. If I simply insert a wire into a trigger to which that wire is not connected to anything on the other end, the wav repeatedly plays. In fact, I don’t even need a wire to cause the trigger to play the wav. I can simply touch the header with a finger and it plays. To me, this indicates that it is not the push buttons causing the issue. The triggers are out of wack.

I made a short video showing the issue.

Configuration: Latest mono firmware. I’m powering with 5V, and there is no .ini file on the SD card. The only file on the SD card is a single wav file, formatted in Audacity to 16 bit mono, no meta-data per the user manual. I have also tried reformatting the SD card to FAT32 using SD Card Formatter.

The status light might be telling of the issue but I am not sure what to make of it. It begins by blinking every 2 seconds (Manual indicates this means SD card not recognized), but once I short a trigger, the light remains solid for a bit (like it all of the sudden recognizes the SD card). Is it normal for it to blink until a trigger is pressed, or should it be solid immediately?

Any suggestions to fix this or explanations as to what is going on here would be greatly appreciated. My apologies if this is a simple fix and I’m just not seeing it. Thanks in advance.

I think I figured out my own issue. I went ahead and added a .ini file, set to mono, and I changed a few triggers to bank up/down and for some reason it fixed the bug.

However, the status light still blinks every 2 seconds when the board is idle. But when I short a trigger, the sound plays and the status light remains solid for about 4 seconds. It then goes back to the 2 second blink. Is this how it works?

The manual appears to indicate that the status light should remain solid, if I am reading it correctly.

Thanks

The LED flashes every couple of seconds when no sounds are playing - It’s a heartbeat to let you know that Tsunami is on and ready. The LED goes solid whenever any sounds are playing.

How long is this wire that causes false triggers? What version of firmware are you running?

Newest firmware mono, 8 inch wire. The issue vanished once I added the .ini file to the microSD card. All is well now.

Thank you for replying. Greatly appreciated.
