Do I need to have the Gator Bit to use the sensors like the UV sensor with a microbit or can I connect without it? I purchases several sensors for my school as the site I was on did not specify that another accessory was required… I don’t have any more funding right now to purchase anything else so I am hoping the sensors can work without the gator bit attachment even if it is more cumberson?
You don’t need to use the gator:bit, but it would be significantly easier to make the necessary connections. The UV sensor uses the 3.3V, GND, and I2C pins on the micro:bit. Therefore, you’ll use the big 3V and GND pins and pins P19 (SCL) and P20 (SDA) (see this chart for a reference: https://tech.microbit.org/hardware/edge … ector-pins).
For more details on the pins, check out these resources:

There are some other products that you can use in combination, that would also work for you. Check out the micro:bit breakout board [https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16446], which breaks out all the edge connector pins to header pins. That way you can use jumper cables [https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10898] and these pig-tail alligator clips [https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13191 or https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14303]
