I have the Gator:bit Carrier Board, a Gator Environment board, and a Micro:bit V2. The Micro:bit works fine with the carrier board. However, when I connect the environment sensor it returns a value of "972 " and an angry face on the micro:bit’s display. When I swapped the micro:bit v2 for a v1, it works fine. Please advise. Thank you in advance.
Correction. It’s display a 927 error
Hi Jeff.
When the BBC released the new V2 micro:bit, they changed some of the hardware on the board and that changed some of the underlying code that makes them run. Unfortunately this broke some things in the process as you’ve found.
We’re working on re-coding all our micro:bit products to take that into account but it’s been slow going. Eventually we will have it fixed but sadly we don’t have a timeline on just when yet. You’re going to need to stick to the original V1 micro:bit in the meantime unfortunately.
Has any progress been made with this re-coding? We are not using the Gator board, but are experiencing similar incompatibility issues with Sparkfun products when switching from micro:bit V1 to V2.
Hi SparkFun Team
Well after 15 HOURS of troubleshooting I finally come across this forum discussion on the V2 Microbit not working with your gatorbit Environment board. Why are re-sellers in Australia selling incompatible gear and wasting my time? They obviously don’t know at CD-SOFT.
I now need to either find an old V1 Microbit or return your incompatible OLD devices for a full refund.
This does not give me any reason in purchasing any SaprkFun gear ever again.
I suggest you update all your web site info to point out this incompatible issue in BIG WRITING at the top of the web page. I did not see any warning if it is there already.
Sorry for the delay here.
This issue should be fixed now if you wanted to try again:
This product’s extension has a dependency on Microsoft’s build process. If the usual method of installing the MakeCode extension gives an error, you will need to manually install the MakeCode extension. We have provided a local build of this extension that can be uploaded to MakeCode:
https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/sp … -extension
I hope this helps.
