I was trying to convert my lengthy Micro:bit weather kit code for the New MmakeCode format. when I went to save the code I received Compilation error. Clicked on on JavaScript the error is with the Gartor:RTC code. I finally found the RTC extension but was warned that it is not “certified” or whatever the word was. It still did not make ther compilation error go away.
My project was working in October 2020 before MakeCode was completely updated to include Microbit V2.
Any ideas? Do you have a replacement for the Gator:RTC that is accepted for the new MakeCOde?
I am sorry to hear that you are running into issues with the Gator:RTC baord. We do not currently have a replacement Gator:RTC board at this time that will accept new MakeCode.
We are aware of the issue and we are working on updating all of our Gator products to be compatible with the Micro:bit V2 via updating our MakeCode and any hardware changes that may be required for interfacing the products.
If there is anything else we can do please let us know and I hope you have a great day in the meantime.
We have had a few other posts with similar issues. We should update the MakeCode in the same places the old code is, such as on the product pages for each product.
We can let you know when changes are made here in this forum as soon as we make them.
This is frustrating. I ran across this thread AFTER I had just purchased all of the components needed to complete Experiment 5 with sending/receiving and logging data wirelessly utilizing the GatorRTC. The compilation errors across all code base types blocks, js, and python. I did at least get somewhat of an error hint when downloading the JS but couldn’t capture it.
I had just purchased the MicroClimate Weather Station Kit, 2 MicroBits, and a GatorRTC as a fun experiment with my 9 yr old son. He had a blast putting it all together but we haven’t been able to wirelessly monitor much since.
I’m able to get 4.1 and 4.2 loaded onto both MicroBits and see the data stream real-time with a chromebook paired to the receiving microbit and showing the console. But I can’t leave a chromebook hooked up to it all of the time. Kind of a mess to leave laying around on the kitchen counter, not wife approved!
This was submitted to MakeCode and they are working on it. Waiting
In the meantime, I purchased another I2C RTC (DS3231). The only problem is that I had to condense the MakeCode more as it took up more memory space. I was able to condense but that was a little disappointing. There is no room for anything else
