I’m not advanced at building projects, but would like to step it up a bit by buying something that would help me with GPS. I want to create a base and rover system using the ZED-F9P. I want to purchase the following but are they enough to help me with my project?
2 ZED-F9P’s (1 for base 1 for rover)
[1 of them would be the normal ZED-f9P. and the rover would be SparkFun GPS-RTK Dead Reckoning Breakout - ZED-F9R (Qwiic)]
SparkFun LTE CAT M1/NB-IoT Shield (to connect the base with the rover of cellular option)
Is everything correct and right? Or am I missing something?
I would personally suggest using the NEO-M8P-2 to build your first setup, https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15005. They are cheaper than the ZED-F9P so if something unforeseeable happens it won’t hurt as much financially since you’re just getting started.
The LTE CAT can work as well however you’ll need a SIM card and an appropriate data plan as well. Not all SIM carriers may work with this shield though, so please keep this in mind.
You’ll also need antennas which are suggested on the GPS RTK’s product pages under “Hookup Accesories”. Make sure to get a good one for your application and possibly include a ground plate, https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15004, to help reduce noise and interference.
Most of all, since we are unable to support custom projects and code outside of our hookup guides, take it slow and thorough. The RTK base and rover systems can be challenging so take your time.
