We’ve run into two problems while trying to set up our Torch.
After updating the firmware to 2.0 using GUI, the WiFi config menu no longer works. It can be connected to and rtk.local pulls up with blank boxes. We can’t save or make any changes or reset to factory defaults from this. Luckily, the config menu can be accessed through a wired connection with Tera Term, but we will not have access to a laptop in the field and would like to rely on mobile devices. I have tried to do a factory reset from Tera Term and this did not fix the problem.
We cannot get the Torch to achieve RTK float or fix with SW Maps. No matter how long we wait outside SW Maps reports a single fix type. We followed the instructions located here: Quick Start - RTK Torch - SparkFun RTK Everywhere Product Manual. The GNSS icon flashes orange and green and PointPerfect says the thing is active. We are using a PointPerfect Developer plan.
Does anyone have any help fixing these issues? Thanks in advance!
I just updated mine a few days ago by using the internal function. I hadn’t gotten the link to the update info on the blog till a few days later, so I didn’t know support was recommending us to use the wifi mode instead of AP mode.
I haven’t seen any issues, but in light of this concern I’m almost afraid to look and see if the wifi config menu still looks normal.
What I can say is my fix time has dropped to UNBELIEVABLE FAST!
Prior to the update on this and another unit it was 10 min minimum to get a Fix.
Then after the update about 5 min, but I didn’t get to try that many times. Fast forward today I go out and set my stopwatch and when I came back at 1 min and 40 seconds it was RTK Fix!
This is so far has been the best performance improvement since I started using the Torch.
BTW, this is using both SW maps and Field maps with a S22+.
